We have been providing dog walks and pet services on the North Side of Chicago since 2000. It's been our mission to take the stress out of dog walking and provide the best experience for our clients while they are at work or away from their home. We have now brought all that great experience and expertise to downtown Chicago with Urban Tailz: In the Loop!
We are insured and bonded through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Urban Tailz is a member of NAPPS (The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) and this is the insurance company they recommend using. Urban Tailz is a LLC and is licensed to provide pet care services in the city of Chicago. We have the most stringent background check policy of any dog walking company in Chicago, running multiple background databases for each new walker because we know just how important it is to keep our clients and their homes as safe as possible. We do not hire any walker with any sort of criminal record. Our clients are just too important to us!
I started Urban Tailz in May of 2000. I used to work long hours and travel frequently. I often felt bad leaving my dogs and cats home alone. Urban Tailz allows me to spend more time with my family while helping others with their families.
Over the years my family has grown. We now have 3 children, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and usually some visiting dogs (we are a foster home for a group called Recycled Rotts). Our Lakeview home is a little crazy, but that's the way we like it.
I went to culinary school with aspirations on being the next great chef, but quickly realized the crazy hours and intense atmosphere were not for me. I joined Urban Tailz in 2005, and it's been my home ever since.
I have two wonderful dogs Mucha and Tesla that are my life outside of Urban Tailz. They keep me busy, full of love, and well-entertained. I get to play with lots of kitties and dogs on a daily basis working for Urban Tailz, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love cooking, but my passion now and forever will always be taking care of all my wonderful furry friends and their owners.
I grew up in Michigan but now consider Chicago my home. Working with Urban Tailz has helped me take root in the city because I've truly found a dream job! Since I don't have any pets of my own yet, it's been wonderful to bond with all kinds of animals as a "pet auntie".
On my free time I love to cook, eat, travel and Netflix binge, preferably all in the company of my friends and family.
Hi! I'm Amanda. I was born and raised in the best city there is...Chicago! I enjoy working for Urban Tailz because there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a happy animal waiting for you as you walk through the door!
When I'm not with my furry animal friends I like to go for runs and play tennis. I also enjoy checking out different coffee shops and restaurants in the city. And of course, hanging with my friends and family!
Hey I’m Siara! I have a lifetime of personal pet care experience, and a year of professional pet care.
My parents actually got our first family dog right before I was born. I had a wonderful 17 years with my chow/pitbull named Shorty. He was not short at all. I have a 6 year old, 60 pound pitbull named Ozzie and a 25 pound, 7 year old pitbull/shih tzu mix named Ivory. The most common question I get when I tell people Ivory’s breed is, “how did that happen?” but they are the best of pals!
Besides dog walking, I love music, and I love singing. I am a big fan of karaoke and singing my heart out. If you are ever home while I’m walking your dog, you might hear me humming some song!
I am currently finishing up College and pursuing a degree in Psychology and Marketing. After that, I’ll be pursuing a Masters Degree in Psychology. I work from home, and dog walking gives me the opportunity to fill up my schedule with something I love— animals! Sometimes Ozzie and Ivory get bored with me so it’s good to give them their space.
I look forward to meeting your fur baby!
I have lived in Chicago my entire life, growing up in the now-booming Logan Square area. I've worked for Urban Tailz since 2014.
I don't have any pets at this time, but I often have my niece and nephew over, whom many have confused as chimpanzees. Urban Tailz allows me to play with lots of animals on a daily basis, which I love.
When I'm not working for Urban Tailz, I love playing music, and I consider myself an avid cinephile.
Alex ventures into a wide variety of art forms including music, experimental noise, performance art, illustration, and writing. All while controversially blurring the lines between dog and man as he talks to your dogs about current news, college aspirations, and Chicago life. Alex lives a happy life, he calls his friends doggies, loves The Fall, and smiles like he doesn't own a central nervous system.
Hi! My name is Holly, and after eight years of working in corporate finance & consulting I am now pursuing my dream of being a dog walker! I grew up in Wisconsin with a household of animals, including, among others, two (large) dogs, two cats, and a litter of five kittens that we adopted and raised. A lot of my early years were spent learning about and caring for everything from grasshoppers to butterflies to my own pets. I now have one cat, Nitty, a 16-year-old senior who enjoys snuggling and sleeping, and get my dog fix through Urban Tailz as well as volunteer work at PAWS.
Animals have a lot of admirable traits that humans can learn from, and that's why I love working with them. I believe in the power of consistency, play, and unconditional love in building a trusting relationship with any animal, and find joy in learning about the quirks and personalities that make each of them unique!
In my free time I enjoy cooking, ping pong, and running (which comes in handy when walking high-energy dogs!)
